Event: Calgary Civic Symphony presents A Child's Christmas with Calgary Girls Choir and Mayor Naheed Nenshi, narrator
Date: December 18, 2011
Time: 2:30pm
Location: Jack Singer Concert Hall
Details:
The Calgary Civic Symphony welcomes the Calgary Girls Choir in this programme of seasonal favourites sure to delight children of all ages! The programme includes traditional orchestra music, songs by Chilcott and Willcocks, music from Home Alone and White Christmas, as well as sing-along and more!
The concert also features two young pianists from Mount Royal Conservatory's Academy program - Bryn Wiley & Angela Wu - performing Camille Saint-Saens' ever-popular Carnival of the Animals. This fourteen-part musical suite contains delightful musical portraits of various animals such as the elephant, donkeys, and the swan and even piano students! It is enjoyed by children all over the world for the musical pictures it paints of animals and interesting insight of the music instruments. Mayor Naheed Nenshi will narrate light-hearted poetry for this work.
